Message from the Chief Executive Officer

In 2012, our commitment to our mission: “We safeguard drinking water for the people of Ontario as the leading centre for high quality training, applied research and technology demonstration” is stronger than ever. I am looking forward to the counsel of the newly appointed Research Advisory Committee and the Training Advisory Committee. These advisory committees will help us serve Ontario’s water sector more effectively.

To meet our mission and mandate we have strengthened our team while reducing overall expenditures. In particular we have added Operational Instructors and Technicians to drive quality training of water operators.

What can you expect from the Walkerton Clean Water Centre in 2012?

• More great hands-on training at the Centre and across the province. This will include an even stronger Maintenancefest program.
• Additional and consistently better training for operators and others across the province. This includes the roll-out of the Centre’s developed mandatory certificate renewal course – Treating and Distributing Safe Drinking Water.
• Implementation of a Walkerton Clean Water Centre Research Plan focused on the practical research needs of small systems.
• Effective support of Ontario’s drive to be the North American leader in developing and selling water technologies and services.
• Better communications and customer service.
