       Education & Outreach Coordinator (Internal Posting) 

One-year secondment position

The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Summary of Position

Coordinate planning for and producing events as per the calendar, and/or strategic outreach criteria, including two annual events.  Provide general administrative duties relating to the Outreach Program. 

The position necessitates the flexibility to work evenings and weekends, particularly in the spring and fall.

Key Duties

Write, design and publish the Centre's quarterly newsletter each November, February, May and August

Design and distribute advertising materials (i.e. posters, print advertisements, newspaper articles, press releases)

Maintain monthly performance measures reports and create event summaries and post to website

Develop the Library to be a source for education to operators, operating authorities, students, other professionals in the industry and the general public

Create and manage an inventory of promotional materials

Prepare and distribute school kits and organize and deliver school tours

Liaise with Centre staff to attend various events and activities representing the Centre

Manage and update the Research Advisory Committee website, respond to queries and prepare correspondence on behalf of the committee 

Assist in creating and documenting effective written procedures, forms and templates as requested

Maintain relevant paper and electronic files

Process mail, e-mail and telephone correspondence

Provide assistance and support to the Executive Assistant, Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors as required

Other administrative, secretarial or support tasks as directed

Knowledge and Skills Required

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to respond to queries in writing, on the telephone, by e-mail and in person in a courteous and efficient manner 

  • knowledge of the Centre's programs sufficient to provide skilled administrative support to the Chief Executive Officer in connection with the Outreach Program development and delivery
  • Organizational and analytical skills sufficient to carry out a variety of administrative assignments including the organization of Centre events and activities
  • Computer experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Suite 3

Ability to work independently and as a team member.
