The Centre's small systems department was developed to focus on providing training and information to small, and remote and municipal systems, communal systems and stand-alone facilities (both commercial and non-commercial).
Mobile Training Units
To facilitate access to high-quality on-site training for small drinking water system owners, operators, and operating authorities across Ontario, the Centre introduced a self-contained drinking water training and technology demonstration mobile training unit (MTU).
The MTU is equipped with leading-edge drinking water treatment demonstration equipment including a chemical feed system and an ultraviolet unit. There is also a water quality laboratory including a spectrophotometer, colorimeter, turbidimeter and a multiparameter device that can help in testing for several water quality parameters.
The Centre currently operates three MTUs, and through contracts with Confederation College of Applied Arts and Technology in Thunder Bay and Sault College of Applied Arts and Technology in Sault Ste. Marie, is able to provide on-site training throughout Northwestern and Northeastern Ontario. The 3rd MTU, headquartered in Walkerton, is currently focusing to provide training in Southern and Southwestern Ontario.
